Product Launch: Unified Communications technology manufacturer ESTOS announces telephony middleware for the Aura® Communication Manager from Avaya

The ECSTA middleware solution for Aura Communication Manager (ACM) is a newly developed middleware...

Starnberg, 2nd May 2012: ESTOS, an independent manufacturer of Unified Communications (UC) and Computer Telephony Integration (CTI) solutions, is announcing the approval of the
solution for use with ACM. This middleware solution developed especially for the Device, Media and Call-Control Interface (DMCC) of the Avaya Application Enablement Service (AES) makes the integration of ACM into the application landscape of any company possible. Applications based on Microsoft TAPI can now be professionally integrated, in particular the ESTOS Bestseller ProCall+ Enterprise application. As an independent manufacturer, ESTOS offers a broad spectrum of middleware components for telephone systems from prestigious manufacturers.

With the
<link products/drivers-middleware/ecsta-series.html - - "ECSTA middleware">

for Avaya ACM, this independent manufacturer of UC solutions from Starnberg has added an additional, professional third party TAPI driver to their established ECSTA product family. The ECSTA for Avaya ACM solution overlaying the Application Enablement Service (AES Version 4.2 or later) of Avaya Aura Communication Manager systems makes professional integration of third party, TAPI-compatible applications possible. This results in the ability to integrated CTI, CallCenter and UC solutions or CRM, ERP and specialist applications on an ad-hoc basis.

Maximum benefits: ECSTA for Avaya synchronizes perfectly with the newest generation of Microsoft operating systems, such as Windows Server 2008 R2 and Windows 7, supports the newest standards and characteristics for computer-supported telecommunications applications (CSTA) and captures attention through its simple installation and maintenance. Furthermore, the logically constructed user interface ensures intuitive operation for the administrator.

Christoph Lösch, Managing Director at ESTOS, says, "We are particularly proud of the error-free results from the Avaya DevConnect Compliance Test. This perfect result underscores the ESTOS demand for quality–simple installation and error-free operation at maximum reliability–for our professional CTI middleware solutions."

In principle, the ECSTA middleware product family from ESTOS makes communication between telephone systems and IT applications possible. At the technical level, the CTI protocol (e.g. CSTA) for the respective telephone system is translated for the world of Microsoft Windows, such as Microsoft TAPI. TAPI is practically an industry standard, which is supported by all leading software manufacturers. With this standard, the telephones connected to the telephone system can be used for a broad selection of computer-supported applications. The middleware solution makes guidance and control of the telephones possible through a central computer.

In doing so, ECSTA for Avaya ACM also makes the integration of the ESTOS Bestseller
software possible. This software is a leading UC solution with features like classic CTI, Instant Messaging and Presence Management for the improvement of collaboration in the company and even across corporate boundaries by means of Federation software.

UC Solutions with Federation Technology - A Facebook Killer?

Federation-capable Unified Communications Software such as ProCall 4.0 Enterprise are poised to...

Starnberg, Germany – 17 May 2011. Independent unified communications software vendor ESTOS presents
, its first UC solution featuring so-called federation technology. Federation is based on a Web 2.0 networking concept that affords companies the foundation to provide their employees with key performance features which have thusfar been principally offered by well-known social networks such as Facebook, ICQ and Skype. Many factors point to federation-capable UC products – such as newly released ProCall 4.0 Enterprise – becoming the preeminent social networking solution within the corporate world.

In addition to computer telephony integration, Office integration, presence management and instant messaging,
- the latest unified communication software version from ESTOS - is enhanced with so-called federation technology. Designed for corporate use, it is an Internet communication concept founded on the social networking principle. Based on open standards (e.g., SIP/SIMPLE) and secure protocols (e.g., TLS), it creates a confidential framework for communication among the employees of ‘friendly’ companies with the goal of improving overall collaboration. In a manner similar to that of social networking, the user decides with whom he or she wishes to establish a ‘friendship’, as well as exchange instant messages (chat) and presence information.

In contrast to popular public networking services, federation-capable UC solutions afford companies their own flexible networking platforms. Such platforms allow their administrators to define, in accordance with company policy, with which other companies confidential networks may be established and developed. Each administrator also defines the profile and quality of transferable information as well as the services that may be used in each case. Once the initial network handshake is made (with, for example, a customer, a supplier or business partner), the two companies’ employees may then begin networking amongst themselves. At this stage, each individual user decides what information is visible to befriended contacts by setting security access levels accordingly. Available presence information ranges from simply ‘Available’ or ‘Busy’ to more detailed information, such as ‘In a meeting’ accompanied by the corresponding Outlook Calendar subject heading. The networking solution’s benefits are clear: By joining individual users together, regardless of their different physical locations, communication processes are simplified and made more agile, thus improving the efficiency and productivity of their respective companies.

The concepts of social networks in the public domain and federation networks differ in three essential ways. In the case of federation networking, it is immediately clear from the user’s perspective that the addresses being employed in communication indicate the affiliated company of each user, as well as, generally speaking, his or her e-mail address. ESTOS assumes that rules of etiquette will develop which will be similar to those now taken for granted in e-mail communication. Today, it is generally expected that business e-mail correspondence be conducted using e-mail addresses that indicate company affiliation, while private communication is typically conducted using e-mail addresses provided by public service providers. The second difference, and one which is greatly important for individual businesses, is that communication takes place directly between the associated companies, rather than via any third-party servers. The precise weakness of public-domain service providers is that their business models require them to analyse the contents of user communications. Thirdly, federation is based on open standards, thus allowing widely differing systems to be networked – including even public-domain networks, where desired.

Federation technology allows ‘friended’ companies to link themselves and their employees up independently and directly, thus rendering Facebook and its competitors obsolete in the business environment. In future, there will also be interfaces available for communicating with parties who only operate in such public communities. In the business environment, these public networks will only play a secondary role comparable to that of AOL or Compuserve in the context of current e-mail communications.

Christoph Lösch, Managing Director of ESTOS: “It’s in no business’s interest to have its employees sharing confidential information that offers a basis for other companies’ business models. But on the other hand, employees value modern communication services like presence information and instant messaging, and increase their productivity by using them. Federation technology provides the solution to this dilemma by enabling the company to reclaim its authority over and control of information, while at the same time making the value-adding application available to all employees. With its presence information and instant messaging features, it offers the alternative to popular social networks in the public domain for inter-corporate communications. Unlike with Facebook, ICQ, Skype and their competitors, a company using federation is able to design and organise its own network and communication tools amongst its employees, and - when required - supervise their use, as well. This is why professional unified communications solutions featuring federation technology will eclipse social networks very rapidly in the coming years, and force them back into the private-use environment. It’s doubtful that companies like Facebook will then be able to justify their supposedly enormous value. In this sense, you can consider federation technology to be the Facebook killer!”

ProCall 4.0 Enterprise featuring federation technology is available from specialised distributors and authorised retailers.

More Business Value - ESTOS at CeBIT 2011

From March 1 to 5, 2011 in Hannover, Germany, the ESTOS team will meet with visitors at six CeBIT...

Starnberg, Germany - 27 January 2011 - ESTOS, the technology leader in Unified Communications software, will present itself at this years’ trade fair under the motto “More Business Value”. After all, according to the company’s successful formula, unified communications plus integration in business processes equals more business value. The term business value refers to the value that an investment represents to a company. To find out about the latest generation of business-value-adding solutions offered by ESTOS software, trade fair visitors can visit any of the following ESTOS partner stands at CeBIT 2011: KOMSA Systems, ALLNET, innovaphone, snom, Tobit.Software and Vodafone.

The value proposition of Unified Communications is to enhance efficiency for users and thereby increase business value; in other words, the value of a given investment to a company. In addition to direct effects, such as cost savings that have an immediate impact on profitability, the value of an investment includes indirect effects, such as process optimization and increased customer satisfaction. The latter effects are particularly significant when it comes to Unified Communications projects. According to a study by Gartner, Unified Communications solutions particularly contribute to business value when they are intelligently integrated with those business applications (e.g. CRM, ERP and industry software solutions) being used. This is the source of the successful formula from ESTOS: Unified Communications + Integration in existing business processes = More business value.

At all partner stands, ESTOS will present the latest generation of its products that allow companies to realize more business value: ProCall 4.0 Enterprise, MetaDirectory 3.0 and CallControlGateway 3.0, as well as brand-new versions of the ECSTA product series. Specialists from ESTOS will be on hand with their trade fair partners to provide information about the range of solutions, while at each of the stands, applicable technological highlights will be presented. Trade fair visitors will thus be able to find out about the latest developments in the areas of Communications-enabled business processes (CEBP), federation, cloud-based services and mobility.

KOMSA Systems: Hall 12, Stand C69
ProCall and MetaDirectory with UC and CTI functions optimize business processes. Typical integrations and case studies involving CRM and ERP solutions (Microsoft Dynamics CRM, NAV and Sugar CRM) will be presented, along with integrations with specialized applications from the financial sector (in particular, tax and finance advice, e.g. DATEV, DVAG).

ALLNET: Hall 13, Stand C57
Modern enterprises require solutions that facilitate the mobility of their employees. Together with premium voice provider QSC and AASTRA, ESTOS will present a revolutionary solution based on the BroadWorks platform from BroadSoft that enables convenient CTI functionality, regardless of which telephone is being used. This solution also allows for the integration of all GSM and UMTS mobile phones as well as home office stations, thus eclipsing all previous FMC scenarios.

First foreign Branch ESTOS Italia Srl founded

Starnberg, Germany - December 09, 2010 – The Unified Communications software vendor ESTOS just announced the founding of ESTOS Italia Srl in Udine, Italy. The opening of this new branch is part of the company’s continued expansion in the region and underscores the area’s importance as a market. The new subsidiary’s CEO is Alessandro Parisi.
For several years, ESTOS has maintained a presence in Italy through strong partners and successfully carried out numerous projects during this time, the latest of which was at the building materials supplier Knauf. As part of its expansion strategy, the Unified Communications software vendor founded its first foreign branch, ESTOS Italia Srl, this November in Udine.
From now on, the subsidiary will be responsible for bringing the ESTOS Unified Communications portfolio to market throughout the entire Mediterranean region. This includes the best-selling Unified Communications software ESTOS ProCall Enterprise as a network solution and ESTOS ProCall One for single-user setups, as well as the ESTOS MetaDirectory LDAP-server and the ECSTA series as middleware (CSTA/TAPI) for all established PBX and PBX enterprise systems. As in all other regions, ESTOS products will be sold indirectly through a network of partners. This includes distributors such as NextMedia, EDSLAN, ASIT and ALLNET, for example, as well as well-known systems integrators such as SurfTech, which specializes in Citrix and terminal servers as well as Ingest for Microsoft Dynamics. Additionally, the areas of hosting and IP Centrex will also become an increasing part of the company’s focus on the international level.
As Managing Director of ESTOS Italia Srl, Alessandro Parisi heads up the branch in Udine and is responsible for regional business activities in the areas of sales, marketing, support and presales. Parisi has been active in the ICT business for more than 20 years and thus possesses a wealth of experience in the area, including the entire ESTOS portfolio. “Especially in the last few quarters, we have experienced a marked increase in demand for classic CTI and Unified Communications products,” says Parisi. “I’m looking forward to this new challenge and am convinced that new and innovative solutions for telecommunications – like Unified Communications, for example – will significantly optimize processes in companies.”
“Italy is an important market for ESTOS,” says Florian Bock, President of ESTOS Italia Srl and Managing Director of ESTOS GmbH. “Throughout the entire region, we see great potential for our Unified Communications products, which have been specifically designed with the demands of medium-sized companies in mind, both in on-premise and hosted scenarios. The founding of ESTOS Italia Srl is an important milestone in our strategy for internationalization.”
