Third party - CTI network server

The CTI network solution is a centralized connection of 'server PC' and PBX. Through this 'CTI-server' all PBX telephones have centralized piloting.

The workstations communicate with the CTI-server that transforms the PBX piloting. The TAPI driver of the telephone manufacturer will be installed on the CTI-server where it provides TAPI functions to all telephones. A server software is needed to transfer the TAPI telephony to the workstations

At these workstations you can dial, cut off and receive calls, show and handle the callers numbers on your PC display. Additional functions are also possible, depending on the manufacturer.

By using the network version, group-functions like call assembly and "occupied" display are available.

Hardware installation:
Connect your PBX to the server PC. Connection can be established via serial wire, ISDN card, internal S0-bus or directly via TCP/IP network. See your PBX instruction for details. You may need a special connection-adapter for your PBX or a special ISDN card for the server side (see the TAPI driver PBX details).

Driver installation:
Execute the TAPI driver PBX installation on the server. Configure the driver, to provide all your telephony 'online'. You'll get the TAPI driver from the PBX producer, otherwise it must be organized separately. Some of these home office PBX drivers are for free.

Server installation:
In order to extend the TAPI information to all workstations in the network, it is necessary to have suitable server software. ESTOS offers the TapiServer as easy installation software, providing group function by an "occupied" display.

The TapiServer can be administrated in the network as well.

Summary:
The 3rd party CTI-solution is recommended for companies using a PBX and the local network to connect the workstations with CTI-services. The network version allows the use of group functions, like the "occupied" display. The price of the network solution decreases, while the number of clients increases.
