WebRTC: ESTOS and BlueJimp announce technology partnership in Internet-based video collaboration technologies

The two partners are presenting their first showcase at this year's WebRTC Exhibition & Conference from December 10 to 12, 2013 in Paris.

Starnberg, December 10, 2013 – The Starnberg-based software vendor ESTOS and BlueJimp have agreed a technology partnership in order to facilitate obstacle-free video collaboration solutions for the SME sector over the Internet. In collaboration with the jitsi.org community, ESTOS and BlueJimp are planning to provide a video conferencing service that is based on the open standards WebRTC and XMPP.

The many years of experience held by the Open Source solutions provider BlueJimp SARL, known for its Jitsi communications client with video-conferencing and contributions to IETF open standards, form a solid foundation for its technology partnership with ESTOS.

ESTOS is contributing its expertise in the field of WebRTC, which is reflected through products such as ProCall go, the Open Source strophe.jingle Javascript library and the XMPP-based gowebrtc.me API.

Guaranteeing interoperability between Jitsi Videobridge and the strophe.jingle library will be one of the first steps of this collaboration. This will optimize both the convenience and the bandwidth requirements of WebRTC multi-party video conferences. This bandwidth requirement is a fraction of that of conventional modern WebRTC-based conference packages that often resort to full mesh topologies.

BlueJimp and ESTOS, official sponsor of the WebRTC Exhibition & Conference 2013, will be unveiling the results of their collaboration as part of their first presentation on December 12, 2013.

With ProCall go, ESTOS is one of the first companies in Europe to be preparing the market launch of a WebRTC-based standard application for modern Internet-based communication for the first quarter of 2014. Interested customers, systems integrators and specialists can already try out the WebRTC-based ad hoc video chat without installing a plug-in or requiring any additional software free of charge at go.estos.de.

Emil Ivov, Managing Director of BlueJimp, is delighted by his company's partnership with ESTOS: "The collaboration with Philipp Hancke, TechLead WebRTC at ESTOS GmbH, has already produced world's first fully open source scalable video conferencing web application. ESTOS  has also joined the effort of standardizing the XMPP based protocol: 'Conferences with LIghtweight BRIdging' (COLIBRI).

Use of open standards here has made it possible to complete the entire project in less than a month! This is a clear demonstration for how much WebRTC development can benefit from use of existing signaling protocols such as XMPP," says Ivov.
